This varietal is emblematic of the Alsace region
The Gewurztraminer variety has pink grapes and is part of the Traminer family. It is also sometimes called Savagnin Rose Aromatique, and is grown on 2,737 hectares in France. It is not the most productive variety, but it is robust. It thrives in limestone soils and is sensitive to noble rot. This grape is used to make sweet white wines featuring litchi and pineapple on the nose.
