The Quinta Vale D. Maria Vinhas Velhas Red 2020 impresses with its aromatic depth, highlighting red fruits such as wild blackberry and ripe cherry, complemented by floral notes of violet and rockrose. It has an elegant, concentrated structure, offering a succulent, balanced and fresh taste, with a particularly persistent finish. This wine perfectly reflects the essence of the Douro region.

Grape varieties: A blend of 41 different varieties, including Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca, Sousão, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and many other typical Douro varieties.

The old vineyards of Quinta Vale D. Maria are divided into several plots, each of which is hand-harvested at optimum ripeness. The grapes are sorted, destemmed and partially crushed before entering the fermentation tanks. An initial foot treading initiates fermentation, followed by transfers to vats or stainless steel tanks, where manual pump-overs are carried out. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation in stainless steel or 225-liter French oak barrels, and age for 21 months. Each fermentation batch remains separate until final blending, which takes place about a month before bottling.

The vines are over 60 years old and face south, southeast, southwest, east and west.
