A diverse offering and a growing international reputation

Most of Austria's winegrowing activity takes place on farms next to field crops and pasture land, half of which have vineyards with an area of less than 12 acres. While these vineyards may produce small volumes, the creation of “DAC’s” (Districtus Austriae Controllatus, Austria’s protected regional designation) has created an extremely diverse offering, with every bottle carrying the individual winegrower’s designation. Wine production has continued to thrive in Austria, bringing with it economic benefits, international recognition and impressive winemaking facilities built in a modern architectural style.
