This variety is used to make Burgundy’s finest whites
Discover the products of this varietalChardonnay is also known as Aubaine or Beaunois. There was a time when it was thought to be part of the Pinot family, which explains why it was called Pinot Chardonnay. It flowers early and is sensitive to late frost, adapting easily to different soil and climate conditions. On the chalky soil in Côte-d'Or, in Chablis and the Mâconnais district, the wines made from this variety vary according to the specific characteristics of the local area, ranging from full-bodied to delicate, but always with grape on the nose. This variety produces outstanding wines in small batches and pleasant ones in larger batches. Its potential alcohol content is high (up to 14%). When the winegrowing and winemaking are done properly, these whites are oily when young, with good acidity but little in the way of aromas. The aromas develop as the wine ages.
