J. Moreau & Fils
Since 1814, J. Moreau & Fils has challenged the terroir of Chablis to exalt the unique expression of its unique Chardonnay grape and reveal its signature: that of great complex and elegant white wines.
J. Moreau & Fils has built its reputation on a love of wine and respect for the terroir. Located just outside the village of Chablis, J. Moreau & Fils’ house style is to capture the purity and minerality of Chablis in each of its stunning wines. The wines can be characterized by Chablis’ signature lively minerality and a perfect balance between terroir, fruit, structure and texture, making them accessible in their youth while simultaneously possessing a great aging potential.
Behind the Wines
Lucie Depuydt

The winemaker who like a jeweler chiseling a gem combines her geological knowledge to handle the wines carefully and with precaution to both bring out and protect the subtle and very sensitive aromas of Chardonnay grape. Chablis-born Lucie Depuydt, the winemaker for the past seven years, has been sharing her close understanding of the local soil and experience in the world of winemaking. Her work starts with selecting plots, continues by monitoring the vines with partner winegrowers during the key phases of the growth cycle, and establishing the date for harvest in particular. Lastly, she supervises the vinification, ageing and blending of the Chablis wines made by J. Moreau & Fils. Lucie Depuydt manages the equivalent of a 200-hectare estate, with the additional responsibility of sourcing grapes in this hostile terroir. She is a young woman with broad shoulders, her feet firmly planted on the ground, and her head in the stars.
