James Suckling

A wine score is the quickest, simplest way for a wine critic to communicate their opinion about the quality of a wine.

  • Tasting Notes

The vintage proved exceptional in every respect, buoyed by near-perfect weather from start to finish. The harvest took place in ideal conditions, with magnificent grapes all over the vineyard, from north to south. This is without doubt the most accomplished vintage since 2009 and 2010.

To the eye, its deep purple color announces the wine's richness. The nose opens with a generous aromatic palette, blending woody notes with intense aromas of red fruit, black cherry, raspberry and mocha. On the palate, the wine is opulent and powerful, carried by tannins that are present but perfectly blended.

It's a wine of character, made to seduce lovers of memorable vintages, especially when served with game. It will also evolve gracefully and offer great tasting pleasure over the next twenty years.
