  • Tasting Notes

Bold and expressive, this wine seduces with its intensity and clarity of character. Layers of blackberry, blueberry and caramelized cherry unfold alongside warmed raspberry and hints of dried cranberry. Deep, dark nuances of ink, dried meat and graphite lend a distinctive earthy complexity. Floral notes of violet and rose add relief, contrasting beautifully with nuances of dried herbs, licorice and subtle spices. Lively acidity and finely chiseled tannins add structure, balanced by a velvety mouthfeel and a firm, chalky grip. Energetic and self-assured in its youth, this wine promises even greater harmony and depth with careful aging.

  • Vinification and Aging

The winemaking process begins with 10% whole bunches, which adds aromatic power and complexity. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in a 6,000-liter French oak foudre, allowing for a natural, site-appropriate fermentation. During the four-week maceration, the cork is gently pushed in three times a day to ensure optimal extraction. After pneumatic pressing, the wine is racked into 300-liter new French oak barrels, where it undergoes natural malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 18 months, developing its depth and structure. The wine is bottled unfiltered to preserve its character and integrity.

  • Terroir

Finca Los Chañares is located 2,000 meters above sea level (6,562 feet) in the southern Calchaquí valleys, near the town of Santa María in Catamarca. Nestled between the Aconquija hills to the east and the Quilmes hills to the west, the vineyard lies on the upper and middle slopes of alluvial fans shaped by the Agua del Sapo stream.

This exceptional terroir offers remarkable winemaking potential. The soils are rocky, composed of around 60% flattened, subangular stones (5-15 cm in diameter), derived from igneous and sedimentary rocks. With a composition of 96% sand and 4% silt, these soils have very low water retention, which favors low yields and concentrated, high-quality fruit, ideal conditions for the production of typical, expressive wines.
