Tasting Notes
A member of 'Relais & Châteaux', a community of independent luxury hotels and restaurants, Château de Mercuès has dominated the hills of the Lot since the Middle Ages. This red wine has a dark color, with purple reflections. On the nose, this wine is complex. Notes of black fruits, blackberry, elderberry charm the nose followed by notes of violet, eucalyptus and light notes of cocoa. The mouth is round, coated on flavors of very ripe fruits. We find mentholated and fruity notes in the finish. A tasting out of time!

Terroir
rom its vertiginous cliff, the Château de Mercuès overlooks the Lot and dazzles with its superb beauty. Once the summer residence of the Counts-Bishops, it has become a place of hospitality. The 36 hectares of its vineyard offer today a Malbec de Cahors of excellence, as if it were sacred. On the terraces of the valley, the grapes are adorned with purple accents and velvety nuances.
The vines are planted on the gravelly hilltops surrounding the château, on the third terraces of the communes of Caillac and Mercuès. The density of plantation is very high with 6666 vines per hectare. This clay-siliceous soil is ideal for the cultivation of vines and allows us to obtain concentrated wines with great ageing potential. -
